Program Description

There are places you'll want to return to time and time again, no matter your age – Schönbrunn Zoo is certainly one of them. Located within the grounds of the Schönbrunn Palace complex, it captivates visitors not only with its incredible variety of animals, but also with a remarkable history dating back to the 18th century. It's the perfect place to immerse yourself in the world of wildlife for a few hours without leaving the heart of Vienna.

During your visit, you'll discover more than 700 animal species from around the world. Meet the much-loved giant pandas, koalas, Siberian tigers, African elephants, lions, penguins and polar bears, along with many other fascinating animals. Modern enclosures provide the animals with excellent living conditions while allowing visitors to observe them up close and gain a better understanding of their natural behaviour. As you explore the zoo, each area reveals new species and memorable wildlife encounters.

Founded in 1752 as an imperial menagerie, Schönbrunn Zoo is now recognised as the world's oldest zoo, while also being one of Europe's most highly regarded zoological gardens. It's not only an opportunity to admire extraordinary animals, but also to learn about the important work being carried out to protect endangered species. No matter your age, a visit to Schönbrunn Zoo promises unforgettable experiences and a chance to spend time surrounded by wildlife from across the globe.
