The Magical Desert and the River That Falls in Love with the Sea from Albena & Kavarna

Discover two remarkable natural attractions of Bulgaria during a full-day excursion that combines a visit to the country’s only desert with a scenic boat trip along the Kamchia River. The programme also includes free time in Varna, one of the most important cities on Bulgaria’s Black Sea coast.

The first stop is the Stone Forest, located within Bulgaria’s only desert area. This unique site is famous for its impressive stone columns and rock formations, created millions of years ago from the sediments of an ancient sea. Its unusual landscape has often been compared to Stonehenge and has attracted visitors, photographers and film productions for many years.

The excursion then continues with a boat trip along the Kamchia River, one of Bulgaria’s most picturesque waterways. The route passes through a protected nature reserve known for its lush vegetation and diverse wildlife. The cruise ends at the point where the river meets the Black Sea.

A lunch break is included during the excursion.

The next stop is Varna, the largest city on Bulgaria’s Black Sea coast. You will have free time for sightseeing, shopping or exploring the city at your own pace. You may also visit the impressive Dormition of the Mother of God Cathedral, one of Varna’s most recognisable landmarks, known for its magnificent architecture, frescoes and golden domes.

After the free time, the excursion concludes with the return journey to the hotel.
