Program Description

A private tour of an island in the Hong Kong Administrative Region. It's full of charming beaches, picturesque fishing villages and ancient monasteries and temples set amidst picturesque mountain scenery. Lantau is an island ideal for recreational activities, yet close to the business metropolis of Hong Kong Island.

The tour begins with a meeting with your guide at the hotel, then transfer to the subway and travel to Tung Chung station, from where you board the cable car to Ngong Ping village. As we travel skyward, we discover a vast landscape of land and water, overlooking the ocean, the airport and rolling hills. Upon arrival, we explore Ngong Ping and walk to Po Lin Monastery to admire the 34-meter-tall Buddhist statue of Tian Tan Buddha. An opportunity to immerse yourself in Buddhist culture at Po Lin Monastery with a giant bronze Buddha and admire ancient paintings and calligraphy. Then break for a vegetarian lunch on the monastery grounds. After the meal, transfer by bus with stops at Tai O village, where we will experience local life up close in a traditional Chinese settlement. The next stage is a city bus transfer to the busy coastal town of Mui Wo. Here we board a public boat and sail back to the hotel, ending a day full of cultural discovery and natural beauty on Lantau Island.
