Program Description

We drive inland to Nicosia, the only divided capital in the world (since 1974) and across the dividing line to the seaside town of Kyrenia where we will visit its magnificent castle built originally by the Byzantines in the 7th century. Free time will be given to look around the picturesque fishing harbor of Kyrenia. Our next stop will be the village of Bellapais where we will visit the famous ‘Bellapais Abbey’ or the ‘Abbey of Peace’ built in the 13th century. The Abbey consists of a church and a cloister, and it commands magnificent views of the Kyrenia coastline 5km away.

We then make our way back to Nicosia where we will have free time to walk down the main street and the old neighbourhood ‘Laiki Yitonia’ with its many shops and cafes. Return to the hotel.
