Program Description
Get ready for an unforgettable journey to Luxor – the former capital of Egypt and a true treasure for every lover of ancient history. Expect a day full of discoveries, and breathtaking views.
We’ll begin with a visit to the legendary Valley of the Kings, the final resting place of Egypt’s most powerful rulers for thousands of years. You’ll explore three remarkably well-preserved tombs, and if you wish, you can also step inside the world-famous tomb of Tutankhamen (optional, at an additional fee).
On the way, you’ll pass by the house of Howard Carter, the archaeologist who, in 1922, made one of the most significant archaeological discoveries of all time – the intact tomb of Tutankhamen. The next stop is the majestic Mortuary temple of Hatshepsut, a remarkable female pharaoh who made her mark in Egyptian history. This impressive structure is over 3,500 years old – a truly authentic piece of history.
You’ll then admire the Colossi of Memnon. These two massive statues have guarded the entrance to a lost temple for millennia. If you wish, you can also take a boat trip on the Nile (optional), offering a completely different perspective of Egypt.
But the adventure doesn’t end there! You’ll visit a papyrus gallery and an alabaster workshop, where you can see local artisans at work and shop for hand-painted souvenirs.
Finally, the journey concludes with a walk through the Karnak Temple Complex – one of the largest and most awe-inspiring sacred sites of the ancient world. Expanded over more than 2,000 years by successive pharaohs, Karnak was the primary centre of worship for the god Amun. The highlight is the Great Hypostyle Hall, featuring over 100 monumental columns, a true masterpiece that encapsulates the magic of Egypt in a nutshell.

Reviews
The tour itself was very good, thanks to the historical sites, a short Nile cruise, memories, and beautiful photos. The guide was so-so (a local, but he was pretty good at speaking). The only real criticism was the lack of interesting facts in the stories; the information was gleaned from Wikipedia in a super-brief summary (so that`s a minus). We learned more from YouTube videos. It was quite hot (September, mid-September), but that`s understandable. The bus itself, the good air conditioning, and the relatively calm ride thanks to the driver (100-110 km/h) were also a plus. P.S. The stop at the "alabaster factory" was completely unnecessary – it was a cool entertainment (reminiscent of pottery sales in Poland, LOL, for the naive), but we didn`t pay for it, so why drag us around the shopping areas? It was a complete waste of time. We would have preferred to spend more time at the tombs, for example.
I definitely recommend the trip to Luxor. It`s very intense and tiring, and the biggest downside is the long journey through the desert, but that`s to be expected in Egypt. 😊 We left the Lazuri Hotel around 4:00 a.m. The Itaka guide was attentive to our comfort and well-being from the start and provided us with all the necessary information. Along the way, we stopped at a sort of gas station – we could shop, grab a coffee, eat, and use the restroom. The itinerary in Luxor itself was very well organized. A huge plus was the fantastic guide, who spent the entire day with great enthusiasm, telling us about the monuments, history, interesting facts, and everyday life in Egypt. He made sightseeing truly fascinating, not just about viewing ancient buildings. The Nile cruise, in my opinion, was rather unnecessary, but my friend and I decided to take it, and it ended up being a worthwhile experience. I`d rate the dinner as average, and the place we ate at definitely fell short of European sanitary standards. 😉 Fortunately, no one got food poisoning, so it`s possible to survive – this is Egypt, after all. The visit to the alabaster factory was the least interesting part of the trip for me, and I got the impression that its main purpose was to encourage tourists to shop. On the other hand, the people working there were genuinely friendly and very welcoming. The Valley of the Kings, the Temple of Hatshepsut, and Karnak – absolutely stunning! ❤️ Especially combined with such a dedicated guide, who was able to transport us to the world of ancient Egypt in an incredibly engaging way. I definitely recommend this tour. It`s incredibly tiring, but it`s totally worth it! We returned both delighted and completely exhausted. 😅 However, the fatigue will pass, and what you`ve experienced and seen will stay with you forever. ❤️
