Program Description

Discover the diverse faces of Rhodes on a full-day tour that lets you experience both the lush interior of the island and its picturesque coastline. It’s a perfect opportunity to soak up the local atmosphere, explore lesser-known places and see the island from a different perspective.

Your journey will begin with a visit to Filerimos (in the low season) or the famous Butterfly Valley (in the high season). In Filerimos, you will explore the remains of the ancient city of Ialyssos, including the foundations of the Temple of Zeus and Athena, as well as a monastery and a path leading up to a hill crowned by a monumental cross. Along the way, you will notice engravings depicting the Stations of the Cross, adding a unique character to this place. During the summer season, you will instead visit Butterfly Valley – a unique nature reserve, where lush vegetation, wooden bridges and small waterfalls create a peaceful, almost mystical atmosphere.

You will then continue along the western coast, passing traditional villages and areas that remain largely untouched by mass tourism. A stop will be made near Kamiros, where there will be time to relax with a coffee overlooking the Aegean Sea. It’s the perfect moment to slow down and take in the scenery.

Next, you will visit the Castle of Kritinia, considered one of the most picturesque fortresses on the island. Perched on a hill, it offers spectacular views of the sea and the nearby island of Chalki. This spot impresses not only with its history, but also with its stunning setting.

Later in the day, you will head to Embonas, known as the wine capital of Rhodes. Here, you will experience the local atmosphere, traditions and regional flavours. It’s a great opportunity to get a glimpse of authentic island life and its folklore.

At the end of the tour, you will stop at the Castle of Monolithos. Although now in ruins, it remains an impressive site thanks to its dramatic location on a rocky hill. From here, you can enjoy wide views over the sea and nearby islets. Within the castle grounds, there is also a small chapel dedicated to Saint Pantaleon, adding to the charm of this place.

The order of visits and the programme may be subject to change.

This is probably the only tour that offers such a good view of the western coast of Rhodes. In fact, I rate the entire trip so highly because of our guide. Agnieszka, who spoke throughout the entire tour, talked about the myths, legends, and history of the places we visited, as well as Greek traditions and superstitions. She also had a very media-friendly/radio-friendly voice. In my opinion, she`s one of the top three guides I`ve ever encountered, and I only recommend Agnieszka for tours. The only thing that could be slightly changed is the length of the stay in Butterfly Valley, at least by 30 minutes, so we could wander around and take photos.

The trip is long but worth it
