Program Description

Patmos is a small island filled with spiritual atmosphere, located about 32 miles south of Samos. It was here that Saint John the Theologian is believed to have written the Book of Revelation, making the island one of the most important pilgrimage destinations in Greece. If you are looking for a combination of history, tranquillity and authentic Aegean charm, this tour will allow you to discover the most treasured sites of Patmos at your own pace.

During your stay on Patmos, you will have free time to explore the island independently. One of the most important sites you may choose to visit is the Cave of the Apocalypse – the sacred place where Saint John is believed to have received his revelation and where the Book of Revelation was written. The interior of the cave carries an atmosphere of mystery and reflection, allowing visitors to sense the spiritual character of the island. You may also visit the Monastery of Saint John, proudly rising above the island. This impressive monastic complex has attracted pilgrims from around the world for centuries and is known for its austere Byzantine architecture.

Patmos also enchants with its peaceful landscapes and natural beauty. It is an ideal place to slow down – you can wander through picturesque corners and admire sweeping views of the Aegean Sea. In towns such as Chora and Skala, you will find charming tavernas and cafés where you can taste local specialities and experience genuine Greek hospitality.

During your free time, you may browse local boutiques and artisan workshops. Patmos is known for its traditional crafts – embroidery, ceramics, hand-woven fabrics and small sculptures. In some shops, you can also find hand-painted icons and publications devoted to Byzantine history, offering a meaningful and authentic souvenir from the island.

This experience is perfect for those who wish to combine a boat trip to Patmos with independent exploration of its most iconic landmarks and relaxed island atmosphere. Patmos invites you to slow your pace and immerse yourself in a place that has inspired pilgrims and travellers for centuries.
