Program Description

Discover Santorini’s long-standing wine-making traditions during a tour of selected wineries across the island. This experience offers the opportunity to explore the distinctive character of local wines, produced from grapes grown in the volcanic soils of the archipelago.

During the excursion, you will learn about the history of wine production on Santorini and discover the cultivation methods developed to suit the island’s unique climate and terrain. The programme includes visits to both traditional and modern wineries, allowing you to see how local wine-making has evolved over the years.

One of the highlights is Venetsanos Winery, located on the slopes of the caldera. Founded in 1947, the winery is known not only for its rich history but also for its views of the Santorini caldera and the surrounding volcanic islands.

The tour continues to Roussos Winery, one of the island’s most traditional wineries. Here, you will gain a deeper understanding of Santorini’s wine heritage and the grape varieties that have shaped local wine production for generations.

Another stop is Aroma Avlis Winery, where special attention is given to the cultivation of Assyrtiko, the grape variety most closely associated with Santorini. Wines produced from this grape reflect the distinctive character of the island’s volcanic terroir.

At each winery, you will enjoy a tasting of selected wines, offering an introduction to the flavours and aromas that make Santorini’s wines so distinctive.
