Program Description

Discover one of Sardinia's most picturesque towns, where Mediterranean charm blends with centuries of Catalan heritage and local traditions. This tour will take you to Alghero, famous for its beautiful Old Town, precious red coral and excellent wines produced in the surrounding countryside.

Your journey begins in the peaceful vineyards surrounding Alghero, where you will enjoy a tasting of three local wines accompanied by a selection of traditional Sardinian delicacies. This is a wonderful opportunity to discover the flavours of the island and learn more about its long-standing winemaking traditions.

You will then continue to Alghero, one of the most beautiful towns on the west coast of Sardinia. Often referred to as "Little Barcelona", the town reflects its Spanish heritage, which continues to influence its culture and language. As you stroll through the streets, you will notice that many signs are written in both Italian and Catalan.

During the guided walk through the historic centre, you will admire the impressive Cathedral, the remains of the ancient city walls and the distinctive Spanish defensive towers that once protected the town from attacks by sea. Afterwards, there will be free time for lunch. We highly recommend trying the local lobster, one of Alghero's most famous culinary specialities.

Alghero is also renowned for its exquisite red coral, often referred to as the "red gold of Sardinia". You will have time to browse local boutiques offering handcrafted jewellery and traditional artisan products, making it easy to find a unique souvenir from your visit.

After the guided tour, you will have additional free time for shopping, sightseeing or taking photographs. Those who wish may also purchase a boat ticket on site to visit the famous Neptune's Grotto. According to local legend, the sea god Neptune once used these caves as his refuge. Stretching for approximately 2.5 kilometres, the cave system features spectacular chambers, tunnels and galleries decorated with impressive stalactites and stalagmites. One of its highlights is the crystal-clear saltwater Lake La Marmora, creating an unforgettable natural spectacle.

At the end of the tour, you will return to your hotel.
