We first make our way up to Monte to visit the twin-towered Church of Our Lady of Monte; inside lies the tomb of the last Austro-Hungarian Emperor, who died in exile whilst in Madeira in 1922. For those who would like to experience one of the ancient means of transport in Madeira, you can try the famous toboggan ride. The tour then continues to Eira do Serrado from where you have incredible views over Curral das Freiras - “Nun’s Valley”. Then visit this small village situated deep in an extinct crater not far from the highest peak of Madeira and enjoy tasting a local speciality of the area called Ginja before returningto Funchal.
