You’ll begin with a visit to the Mercado dos Lavradores, a lively market where locals gather daily. Located in the heart of Funchal, it offers fresh fruits, vegetables, exotic flowers, as well as local gastronomy and traditional crafts. It’s a colourful and authentic introduction to the island.

Next, you’ll take a walk through the historic centre of Funchal. You’ll see the harbour area, the impressive Sé Cathedral from the 15th century built in Manueline style, the parliament building and the Fortress of São Lourenço. Along the way, you’ll also pass the statue of Józef Piłsudski, an interesting link between Polish history and Madeira.

The tour continues with a visit to the famous Blandy’s Wine Lodge, where you’ll learn about the production process of the renowned Madeira wine. Discover what makes its flavour so distinctive, including the ageing process in oak barrels. The visit ends with a wine tasting.

Finally, you’ll head to the Pico dos Barcelos viewpoint (355 m), offering panoramic views over the entire city of Funchal and its surroundings – the perfect way to end the day.
