Program Description

Trip to the Sanctuary of Nature! The route of the trip allows you to discover the most popular symbol of Madeira - the levad begins at the water treatment station in Quebradas in São Jorge. Trekking around the São Jorge Valley is a unique opportunity to learn about the growing herbs and medicinal plants in this area. A walk through an exotic forest with a wonderful view of the agricultural landscapes of São Jorge and Santana. After a few minutes' walk, visitors will reach one of the best-preserved areas of the Laurissilva forest, inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. It is also an opportunity to enjoy the fauna and flora of the so-called the laurel forest, with ocher or mahogany mahogany there. With a bit of luck, you can spot the birds living in the surrounding forests - the Mader's descent or the Perch. Crossing the waterfall and a visit to Ribeiro Bonito will be remembered for a long time. After a moment of rest, return along the same route.
