Transfer from the hotels/pick up points. Start of trekking on the Levada dos Maroços, which is the only levada in the south-eastern part of the island, running through the picturesque slopes of the town of Machico. Levadas are a network of narrow water channels typical of Madeira, which transport rainwater from the north to the south of the island. The Levada dos Maroços is a classic example of an agricultural levada because it runs directly above the houses and terraces of local crops. This is one of the few levadas where you can experience Madeiran life so closely by observing the local inhabitants in their daily duties. The levada route provides an amazing landscape of the mountains, the city in the valley and the ocean at the same time. A great opportunity to admire the rich, endemic vegetation and traditional architecture of Madeira. Return to hotels/pick up points.
