The Levada dos Prazeres begins in the sunny Calheta, on the South coast of Madeira Island. It is an easy and beautiful “Levada walk” ideal for everybody! This walk is developed in the middle of two forests: The Exotic Forest composed by introduced trees and plants, such as the pine trees and acácias; and also a part of plants from the Laurissilva Forest, an endemic forest, composed by plants and trees that can only be seen on Madeira Island The Laurissilva Forest of Madeira is a world heritage site by UNESCO since 1999 and is one of the seven wonders of Portugal. Here is easy to find some examples of trees that belong the Laurel Forest. This is a very relaxing walk along the Levada and has the duration of approximately two hours walking.
