Program Description

An unforgettable journey through some of Madeira’s most picturesque corners awaits you, combining breathtaking views, local flavours and a touch of adrenaline. At the very beginning, you will set off on a panoramic drive from Funchal to Monte Hill, offering beautiful views of the surrounding area.

At the top, you will visit the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Monte, a place of special spiritual and historical importance to the island’s inhabitants. Afterwards, you will immerse yourself in the exotic greenery of a tropical garden, where you can admire Madeira’s endemic vegetation and feel the atmosphere of a true oasis of tranquillity.

For those who wish to take part, there is an optional downhill ride on traditional wicker sledges from Monte, available at an additional cost. This unique attraction is not included in the regular program, however it offers a fun, one-of-a-kind experience. Participation is entirely optional.

Next comes a drive along a winding mountain road into the very heart of the island. From the Eira do Serrado viewpoints, you will be amazed by breathtaking panoramas of steep slopes and deep valleys. From here, you will head to the village hidden among the mountains, known as the Valley of the Nuns, where you will discover a calm and authentic side of Madeira. On the spot, you will taste local specialities – liqueurs with chestnut, chocolate and passion fruit flavours.

To round off the day, you will visit Câmara de Lobos, a traditional fishing village with a charming harbour. This was a favourite place of Winston Churchill, who found inspiration here in the landscapes and everyday life of the locals. A walk among colourful boats and seaside buildings will be the perfect ending to a day full of experiences.
