On this excursion, you’ll see the most important landmarks of Dhofar’s capital, Salalah, while also experiencing the atmosphere of everyday life in Oman.
The tour begins with a visit to the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque, one of Salalah’s most impressive buildings. Inside, you’ll admire stunning architecture – intricately decorated doors, crystal chandeliers, and beautifully painted ceilings. Please note: to enter the mosque, appropriate clothing is required: trousers or a skirt covering the ankles, and a shirt or scarf covering the shoulders. During Ramadan, the mosque can only be admired from the outside.
Next, you’ll stop at the Sultan’s Palace. While the residence itself is not open to visitors, a short stop allows you to see one of the ruler’s official homes. From there, the excursion continues to the lively souq. In this traditional Arab market, you can shop for Dhofar’s famous frankincense, spices, clothing, and other local products. The scents, colours, and sounds of this place leave lasting memories.
The journey then takes you through fruit plantations, where the warm climate yields coconuts, bananas, and papayas. With a bit of luck, you may even get to taste some.
The excursion concludes with free time at the Grand Mall. In this modern shopping centre, you can relax or shop before returning to your hotel.
Please note that the order of visits and the program may be subject to change.
During Ramadan, the mosque is only visited from the outside. Pickup times and the excursion program during Ramadan are subject to change.
Consumption of food and drinks in open and non-designated areas is to be avoided. During the tour, clothing must cover shoulders, upper arms, and knees. Tight or revealing outfits are not recommended.
Important: Additional insurance coverage is recommended.
