Program Description

The full day Panama City Tour starts out with a fascinating visit to the Miraflores Locks Visitor Center at the Panama Canal to watch huge ships being raised or lowered 54 feet to the next stage of their journey, Pacific or Atlantic bound. Walking tour by Panamá Viejo, also known as Panamá la Vieja, is the remaining part of the old Panama City and former capital of the country. It is located in the suburbs of the modern city. Together with the historical district of Panamá, it has been a World Heritage Site since 1997.Enjoy a walking city tour at Casco Antiguo this walled city was founded in 1673 on a promontory which the city fathers deemed more defensible than original city on the other side of the bay which was sacked and plundered by the English pirate, Henry Morgan. Declared World Heritage site, offers a unique feeling of tradition as well as transitions. At the Casco Viejo you feel set back in time as you admire the lovely colonial houses, the narrow roads and the impressive churches. You will get a good idea about Panama’s history walking through the main attractions of this quarter. At last, arrive to Panama Modern, knows as crossroads of the world, the fact that so many people pass this way, and some many pause awhile, gives this latin city a uniquely international feeling.
