The half day Panama City Tour starts with a walking city tour at Casco Antiguo. This walled city was founded in 1673 on a promontory which the city fathers deemed more defensible than original city (Old Panama) on the other side of the bay which was sacked and plundered by the English pirate, Henry Morgan. Casco Antiguo was declared World Heritage site, offers a unique feeling of tradition as well as transitions. At the Casco Viejo you feel set back in time as you admire the lovely colonial houses, the narrow roads and the impressive churches. You will get a good idea about Panama’s history walking through the main attractions of this quarter. The program also includes a visit to fascinating Miraflores Locks Visitor Center at the Panama Canal to watch huge ships being raised or lowered 54 feet to the next stage of their journey, Pacific or Atlantic bound.
