Program Description

San Sebastián stands out for its diversity - it is difficult to single out just one place or landmark that you simply have to tick off your list. Instead, the city brings together a coastal landscape, cobbled streets, local cuisine and Basque culture to create a character of its own. During a guided walk with a local guide, you’ll see some of its most distinctive places and experience the city from the perspective of someone who knows it inside out.

One of the first stops will be La Concha - the famous beach set along the bay, with views stretching across the sea towards the mountains. As you walk along the waterfront, you’ll see one of the most recognisable parts of San Sebastián before heading towards the city, where more places connected to its history await.

In Parte Vieja, the Old Town, cobbled streets lead between squares, historic buildings and small bars that are just as much a part of San Sebastián as its famous beach. It is impossible to talk about the Old Town without mentioning pintxos. These small bites are an important part of Basque cuisine and can be found in local bars, often accompanied by traditional txakolí - a Basque wine. Details like these allow you to experience San Sebastián not only through its landmarks, but also through the way locals spend their time and enjoy their food.

The walk will also take you to the old port and important landmarks around the city, while your guide shares their history and significance. This will give you a better sense of San Sebastián beyond its image as a beautiful seaside resort and introduce you to the local character and places that have shaped the city over the years.

The best way to get to know San Sebastián is through all these different elements - its views, history, local cuisine and everyday life. During one walk, you’ll see the city’s most distinctive places while your local guide shares stories and details that are easy to miss when exploring on your own.
