Program Description

Steep volcanic walls, winding mountain trails and a hidden cove on the Atlantic coast - hiking through Masca Gorge is one of Tenerife's most exciting adventures. During this trip, you'll explore a scenic ravine, discover the island's unspoilt nature and admire the impressive Los Gigantes Cliffs on a boat trip.

Your adventure will begin at the square in Santiago del Teide, from where you'll head towards the small village of Masca. Nestled among steep slopes and rocky peaks, this mountain village is known for its traditional Canarian architecture and picturesque surroundings. This is where the trail leading into one of Tenerife's most distinctive ravines begins.

Accompanied by a guide, you'll set off on an approximately 5 km hike through Masca Gorge. The trail descends through the ravine, between towering rock walls shaped by volcanic activity and erosion. Along the way, you'll see remarkable rock formations, native vegetation and landscapes that change as you make your way through the gorge. The hike requires a good level of physical fitness, but offers the chance to explore parts of the island that are inaccessible on a typical sightseeing tour.

After descending through the gorge, you'll reach a secluded cove at the foot of the Los Gigantes Cliffs, where the mountain trail meets the Atlantic Ocean. The towering rock walls surrounding the cove create a spectacular setting, revealing the power of the natural forces that have shaped this coastline over thousands of years.

The next part of your adventure will be a boat trip along the Los Gigantes Cliffs. From the water, you'll admire enormous rock faces rising above the ocean and Tenerife's rugged coastline. It's a wonderful way to round off your mountain hike, with views of landscapes that cannot be fully appreciated from land.

After the boat trip, an organised transfer will take you back to the starting point of the excursion.

Hiking through Masca Gorge is an excellent choice for outdoor enthusiasts looking to combine a mountain adventure with spectacular volcanic landscapes and a boat trip along Tenerife's coastline.
