Program Description

Skyscrapers that seem to reach the sky, a harbour filled with ships and a city stretching between the mountains and the sea. Hong Kong is renowned for its spectacular skyline, but it's only from above that you can truly appreciate its remarkable setting. Step aboard the legendary Peak Tram and make your way up to Victoria Peak, one of Hong Kong's most iconic landmarks. A journey along a steep hillside railway awaits, offering a completely different perspective on the city's urban landscape.

The Peak Tram is more than just a means of transport - it's also an important part of Hong Kong's history. This famous funicular railway has long connected the lower districts of Hong Kong Island with the Victoria Peak area. Your journey begins at Garden Road, where the tram gradually climbs the hillside. As you ascend, the city streets fall further below, while impressive skyscrapers and glimpses of Victoria Harbour, one of Asia's most famous harbours, come into view through the windows.

The ride itself is a memorable experience. Due to the steep gradient of the tracks, the surrounding buildings can appear to lean at unusual angles. This distinctive optical illusion is one of the features that makes the Peak Tram such a unique way to discover Hong Kong. Along the route, you'll also see the densely packed cityscape gradually give way to the green slopes of the hillside.

Once you reach Victoria Peak, you'll find yourself in an area famous for its sweeping views across Hong Kong. Near the upper terminus, you'll discover shops, restaurants and places to spend time enjoying the surroundings. One particularly popular attraction is Sky Terrace 428, an observation deck located 428 metres above sea level. If you choose to visit, you'll be rewarded with panoramic views of the city's skyscrapers, Victoria Harbour and the surrounding islands from one of Hong Kong's best-known viewpoints.

A ride on the Peak Tram combines a piece of transport history with the excitement of travelling up a steep hillside. It's a chance to see Hong Kong from a perspective far removed from its busy streets and discover why the panorama from Victoria Peak has become one of the city's most recognisable sights.
