Program Description
Monserrate is one of Bogotá’s most recognisable landmarks, located at an altitude of around 3,152 metres above sea level. The journey to the top combines a short ride with wide views over the city and a visit to a place of major religious and historical importance.
The summit can be reached by cable car or funicular. The journey takes only a few minutes and runs from the foot of the Eastern Hills directly to Monserrate, where panoramic views of Bogotá open up from above.
At the top stands the Monserrate Sanctuary, home to the image of El Señor Caído - the Fallen Lord, which has attracted pilgrims for centuries. The hill has long held religious significance, but it is also a popular viewpoint and a well-known place to take in the city skyline.
A visit to Monserrate combines one of Bogotá’s most distinctive transport experiences with panoramic city views and the chance to see one of the city’s most important sites connected with local tradition.
