Program Description

Step inside Dresden Castle and discover the opulent world of Augustus II the Strong. Admire the beautifully restored interiors, including ornate furniture, golden velvet wall coverings, elaborate candlesticks, mirrors and richly decorated ceilings.

Visit the New Green Vault, home to an impressive collection of more than 1,000 treasures. See exquisite works made from gold, silver, gemstones, ivory, mother-of-pearl and other unusual materials, including coconuts and ostrich eggs.

The visit also includes a look at Augustus II the Strong’s coronation coat, showcasing the wealth and splendour of the royal court.

  • The tour is conducted in German, with some information provided in English. An English-language audioguide is also available.
  • Show your smartphone ticket to the guide at the meeting point.
  • The meeting point is at Dresden Castle (Residenzschloss), by the Georgbrunnen in the small castle courtyard (Meeting Point B), near the entrance to the museum shop.
  • Look for the guide holding a “Glanzlichter Dresdens” sign.
  • The tour starts at 13:30. Please arrive 10 minutes early.
