Program Description
Depart from your hotel and head towards Shimba Hills National Reserve. Once you arrive at the reserve, visit Sheldrick Falls, followed by lunch at a lodge located near the park.
In the afternoon, set off on a game drive through the reserve and keep an eye out for its wildlife. Shimba Hills is one of the largest coastal forest areas in East Africa, known for its rich flora and fauna and home to a high density of African elephants.
During the game drive, you may spot sable antelopes, elephant shrews, bushy-tailed mongooses, buffaloes and fruit bats. The reserve is also an important area for birdlife, with various species found in its forests and grasslands, including red-necked spurfowl, Croaking Cisticola and Zanzibar Red Bishop.
The reserve is also home to Mwaluganje Forest, a dense forest that forms part of the Shimba Hills landscape. After the game drive, return to your hotel in Diani.
