Program Description
What lies behind the distinctive baobabs rising on the horizon? Discover the Saloum Islands and explore a landscape where unusual trees, natural surroundings and local life come together.
The islands are a natural haven for migratory birds, adding a wildlife element to the experience. The change of scenery offers a different perspective on Senegal and introduces you to a landscape where nature plays an important role.
One of the highlights of the trip is a ride in a colourful dugout canoe. Travelling by water gives you a different view of the islands and allows you to take in the surrounding landscape at a relaxed pace.
You will also visit traditional villages inhabited by the local Niominka community, where you can meet local people and get a glimpse of their everyday life. This is an opportunity to learn more about the character of the region and its local communities.
Combining natural landscapes, local life and time on the water, the trip offers a chance to discover a different side of Senegal and experience the distinctive surroundings of the Saloum Islands.
