Program Description
National Gallery Singapore is home to the world’s largest collection of Singaporean and Southeast Asian art. Across more than 64,000 m² of exhibition space, over 9,000 works trace the artistic development of Singapore and the wider region.
The gallery is housed within the former Supreme Court and City Hall buildings, placing both historical and contemporary art within an architecturally significant setting. The space itself forms an important part of the visit, combining preserved elements of the original buildings with a modern exhibition layout.
The collection includes works by leading Singaporean artists such as Georgette Chen, Chen Chong Swee, Chen Wen Hsi, Cheong Soo Pieng and Liu Kang. Exhibitions also feature artists from Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam and Cambodia, reflecting the diversity of artistic traditions and movements across Southeast Asia.
Alongside its permanent collection, National Gallery Singapore regularly presents temporary exhibitions and art installations. The visit can also be complemented by the multilingual Gallery Explorer app, which provides additional information about selected works and exhibitions.
