Program Description
A train journey to Colònia Güell offers the chance to visit the site of one of Antoni Gaudí's unfinished architectural projects. Hidden within a 19th-century textile village, Gaudí's Crypt is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Its unusual structure reflects the architect's experimental approach to design.
The church was commissioned by entrepreneur Eusebi Güell as a place of worship for the workers and families living in the industrial colony. Although the ambitious project was never completed, the surviving crypt continues to impress visitors with its innovative architectural features.
During your visit, you'll use a multilingual audioguide to learn about the building's history and Gaudí's original vision. As you explore the interior, you'll notice irregular columns, arches and combinations of different materials that set the crypt apart from traditional religious architecture.
Gaudí's Crypt in Colònia Güell is an excellent choice for architecture enthusiasts interested in exploring a lesser-known part of the Catalan architect's legacy.
The order of visits and the programme are subject to change.
