Program Description
Nestled among the picturesque landscapes of Empordà in Catalonia, the family-run Martín Faixó - Sa Perafita winery combines a rich winemaking heritage with a remarkable setting. Surrounded by vineyards and rolling hills, with views of Cap de Creus Natural Park, it offers the perfect opportunity to sample local wines and discover the secrets behind their production.
The winery is set around the historic Mas Perafita estate, which dates back to the 14th century. In 2004, the Martín Faixó family restored the property, bringing it back to life. During the guided tour, you will learn about the family's winemaking history and discover how the famous northerly Tramontana wind influences grape cultivation in the region.
You will also gain insight into organic wine production and learn about the grape varieties grown on the surrounding slopes, including Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Grenache, Picapoll and Muscat of Alexandria. Find out what makes the local wines distinctive and how their characteristic aromas develop.
The visit concludes with a tasting of selected wines from the Martín Faixó winery. Take the opportunity to appreciate their flavours and aromas while admiring the scenery of Cap de Creus, where the mountains meet the Mediterranean Sea.
