Program Description
Imagine leaving Madrid behind in an instant and finding yourself among the ruins of Machu Picchu. In front of you are the ancient Inca city, the Temple of the Sun and agricultural terraces - all brought to life through a virtual reality experience that takes you into the heart of an ancient civilisation without travelling to Peru.
Your virtual journey takes you through Machu Picchu and its most important remains. See sites connected to the ancient Inca civilisation and, thanks to the interactive format, do more than simply observe a recreated world - explore it and take a closer look at its different elements.
Advanced technology lies behind the experience. Drones, LiDAR and photogrammetry were used to create the virtual representation of Machu Picchu, with the project developed in collaboration with archaeological experts. This allows the details of one of the world's most important archaeological sites to be recreated with remarkable accuracy.
Machu Picchu is not only one of the world's most recognisable places, but also one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. Set high in the Andes and surrounded by a mountainous landscape and the remains of the ancient city, it has attracted travellers from around the world for years. During your virtual journey, you can see this remarkable site up close and explore its most important areas.
Your journey will be accompanied by TERI, a robotic guide, who will take you through the different stages of the experience and introduce you to the history of the ancient Inca civilisation. Instead of simply reading about Machu Picchu, you can step into its virtual world and see it up close.
One moment you can be walking through the streets of Madrid, and the next you can find yourself among the ruins of a city hidden high in the Andes. Machu Picchu VR turns a distant journey into an experience that begins the moment you put on the headset.
