Program Description
It only takes a few steps for a regular museum visit to turn into a series of surprising experiences. The Museum of Senses Madrid uses optical illusions, experiments and interactive installations to show just how fascinating our senses can be.
You don't need to know the answers or study anything beforehand - all you need is a little curiosity. Touch, listen, observe, test and see how you react as you move through the different exhibits. See how sight can change the way you perceive an image, how sound affects the way you experience your surroundings and how your other senses help you interpret the world around you.
The exhibits are designed to let you take an active part in the experiences. Sight, hearing, smell, touch, taste and balance all become part of the fun, with each station giving you the chance to test something for yourself. Some experiments may surprise you, while others may make you wonder how human perception actually works.
This is a place where it's difficult to remain just an observer. You can get involved in the different experiences, compare your reactions with others and see whether we all respond to the same stimuli in the same way. Thanks to its interactive format, the museum is also a great option for a family visit.
Instead of simply viewing exhibits from behind glass, you become part of the experiment. And when you leave the museum, you may find yourself wondering for a little while longer whether you can really trust what you see, hear and feel.
