Program Description

Imagine a royal palace surrounded by gardens where you can stroll along the Tagus River, while behind its doors you discover interiors created for the Spanish monarchy. This is the Royal Palace of Aranjuez - a former royal residence around 50 kilometres from Madrid, where history, art and nature come together to create a truly unique experience.

Aranjuez has been closely connected to the Spanish monarchy since the 16th century. Today, you can step inside the palace and discover rooms filled with intricate details. The Throne Room, Queen’s Drawing Room, Antechamber of Music and Porcelain Cabinet offer a glimpse into a world of royal ceremonies, gatherings and everyday life. The Porcelain Cabinet is particularly striking - one of the most distinctive rooms in the residence.

A guided tour allows you to discover the rooms not only as beautiful interiors, but also as part of the palace’s story. The palace was built on the initiative of Philip II, and the entire complex was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2001. Each room reveals another part of its royal character.

Then step outside and let the palace give way to greenery. The extensive gardens stretching along the banks of the Tagus create a completely different atmosphere from the grand interiors. Take a leisurely stroll, admire their layout and discover the grounds of the former royal residence at your own pace.

In Aranjuez, the royal splendour does not end at the palace doors. Here, history extends into the gardens, the river becomes part of the scenery, and a leisurely walk offers a completely different perspective on the former royal residence. Discover one of the most remarkable royal sites near Madrid and see what has made Aranjuez such an important part of Spain’s history.
